"With the publication of this volume, which brings together all the debates on the construction of the Tua line held in the two chambers of parliament in the last decades of the constitutional monarchy, it is intended to make available to researchers and all interested parties an essential source for the understanding of the anxieties, difficulties and vicissitudes that accompanied the process of realizing that fundamental railway connection. Although the debates collected here fundamentally focus on the various, and sometimes intricate, problems related to the Tua line, they are nevertheless related with the economic and financial policies then followed at government level, in particular with the structuring of the transport network, providing a better understanding of the complexity of all these matters.
